MATA handcrafted premium beers are brewed by Aotearoa Breweries NZ Ltd who are passionate about developing beers that have unique New Zealand flavours.

All MATA Premium Handcrafted beers are GENUINELY PURE and NATURAL. No preservatives or additives are used. Brewed with malt from New Zealand, Britain and Germany, yeast sourced from the USA and New Zealand hops. All MATA beers are brewed using 100% pure artesian water which is sourced specially from a local acquifer and transported 16 kilometres to the brewery.

Aotearoa Breweries have been committed since day one to doing what we can to help achieve a brighter environment for the future Intitiatives include but are not limited to:

  • 4 pack carton board printed using soy based inks on FSC (forest stewardship council) certified board ensuring it comes from sustainable forestry
  • Waste board from the 4 pack manufacturing process is utilised by converting into tourist
    cards and business cards
  • Table talkers for restaurants printed using FSC paper and soy based inks
  • Spent grain from brewing collected by local pig farmer & used for animal feed

WATER SOURCE

Beer is made up of over 90% water & has long been recognised as an important brewing ingredient
All MATA beers are brewed using pure artesian water sourced specially from this Eastern Bay of Plenty region

This water has been protected in an underground aquifer 1000ft underground at the Otakiri springs aquifer and is one of the deepest, highest quality water sources in NZ, and the world, it has been carbon dated at over 1800 years old. During its Journey to the earth’s surface the water undergoes natural rock filtration resulting in one of the best tasting waters in NZ.

MATA Beers are Brewed & Bottled at 57 Onslow St, Kawerau, Aotearoa, New Zealand. The area is surrounded by stunning ranges, vast forestry and abundant lakes, rivers and the renowned Tarawera Falls
